DO DOGS KNOW THE MEANING OF BEING TRULY HAPPY?

"WHAT'S THE SECRET TO BEING TRULY HAPPY?

Reflecting on that question over the years, I've discovered that ... It's about our underlying perspectives, our way of being in the everyday... and it's NOT dependent upon those wonderful times when we are filled with bliss. Those blissful moments and experiences CAN help us to 'be happy'... ... but what about when we are faced with painful experiences? I get my wisdom about that problem directly from my dogs. Dogs are masters at enjoying life, even while they are carrying a burden of pain. For example, dogs will always follow their passion ... "Sheep in the field? I'll go get them!" "Is that a tunnel? Here I go...see ya on the other side!" "Is that a bird in that bush? Don't move." We like to say that dogs need a job. I'd modify that to say, "dogs need a purpose". A purpose that follows their passion. Great lesson for us humans. And ... Dogs are not stopped by a little pain. You know what I'm talking about, right? I have been trying to keep my dog, Bella, quiet because of a hip injury, all she keeps saying is "forget the hip..let's go!!" They're not easily stopped by a LOT of pain either. Our dog Lakota brought that lesson home when, at 15 and unbeknown to us, had a massive tumour in her stomach ... in her final week she still managed to go down to the beach, swim and run and enjoy the sun She was so happy ... for one last time, for what would turn out to be her last week on earth with us, which we didn't know at the time. Dogs are masters at ENJOYING THIS MOMENT and are our greatest teachers if we are open to it. Do you enjoy the moment or are you too caught up in the past or too worried about the future.
